Personal website for Matthew Rodriguez, Los Angeles based software developer.
I’m a Computer Science graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Post-grad endeavours so far have included continuing to contribute to my side projects and broadening my knowledge in best software development practices. My long-term goal is to contribute to the development of successful video game software and system.
Throughout my undergraduate career, I have utilized C++, Python, Java, and other notable languages to developed diverse, unique pieces of software across both Windows and UNIX environments. Notable examples of my work include a Google Chrome browser extension that automated the search for textbooks based on a student’s personal class schedule. I was tasked with implementing the web scraping functionality using jQuery to gather the necessary data. One of my most recent projects involved creating an app to provide new functionality for the popular music streaming platform Spotify through an Android app. I contributed to the UI/UX of the app and worked towards developing an algorithm for retrieving user data and processing user requests. Aside from my purely technical experience, I involved myself in another position that further developed my cliental interaction skills.
I served as a webmaster for my university’s sociology department, maintaining a domain for a sociology course. My duties included communicating client requested features to my small team, designating various development responsibilities to team members, and implementing robust documentation of our development efforts. This position allowed me to significantly develop client-based communication skills in a technical environment while enhancing my web development skills as I worked towards continuously deploying needed services such as UI changes and FTP-based asset management.
My most recent position was working as a mobile application programmer for my university’s geography department. I assisted in the development of a smart watch application which was to be deployed in Senegal to analyze heart rate trends and work activity among households. I routinely contributed to the design direction of the app and provided mockups for initial prototype designs.
Currently working for Haas Automation, Inc, contributing to their CNC machine technologies.
